Generative AI Policy

The Journal of Engineering and Technology (JET) recognizes that generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) tools can support the preparation of scholarly manuscripts when used responsibly. Authors may use these tools for supporting tasks such as grammar checking, language editing, summarisation, and reference formatting. Authors must review and verify any AI-assisted output before submitting their work.

GenAI tools must not be used to fabricate, alter, or misrepresent research data, statistical analyses, experimental results, references, or other scholarly content. Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, and integrity of their manuscripts. Content found to contain fabricated or misleading material may be rejected or, if already published, considered for correction or retraction in accordance with JET's publication ethics procedures.

GenAI tools cannot be listed as authors or co-authors because they cannot take responsibility for the work. Editors and reviewers must also protect the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and must not upload confidential materials to external GenAI tools without appropriate authorisation.
